Sign contracts online: tenancy agreements, employment contracts, bills of sale and more

Most contracts don’t have to be on paper, so they can be signed electronically. Here’s how it works for the most common ones – and what to check first.

Tenancy agreements

Residential and commercial tenancy agreements can usually be signed electronically. A written agreement is always a good idea: it records the rent, deposit, term and other conditions in one place.

  • Add the landlord and every tenant as signers – each signs on their own device.
  • Price: for example, a landlord and two tenants = €9.

Employment contracts

Employment contracts can usually be signed electronically, and it’s the quickest way to get one signed: your new starter signs on their phone, and you both get the final PDF for your records. Some countries have form requirements for particular terms, so check local rules if you’re unsure.

  • Signers: the employer’s representative and the employee (2 × €3 = €6).
  • The same works for contract amendments, confidentiality agreements and other HR documents.

Sale agreements and bills of sale

Bills of sale for cars, boats and other movable property, and agreements for selling shares, can be signed electronically. Seller and buyer each sign on their own device, and both have the signed agreement straight away. Registering the new owner of a vehicle is a separate step with the relevant authority.

Exception: land and buildings usually can’t be transferred with a simple electronic signature. In many countries a property sale needs a notary, a formal deed or a special registration procedure. Read about other exceptions →

Powers of attorney

An ordinary power of attorney can often be signed electronically: the person granting it signs, and the PDF is immediately ready for the person acting on their behalf. Check with the recipient – a bank or an authority, for example – whether they accept an electronically signed power of attorney or require their own form, a witness or a notary. Powers of attorney for property deals or long-term (lasting) arrangements usually have stricter form rules.

Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)

An NDA is one of the easiest documents to sign electronically: two parties, often in different countries, and no time to waste. Send the NDA before the meeting and have it signed in minutes – two signers cost €6.

Service agreements and orders

Service agreements, consultancy contracts, quotes and order confirmations can all be accepted with an e-signature. The audit trail shows who accepted what, and when.

Other documents

  • shareholders’ agreements and board resolutions
  • consent forms and contract appendices
  • partnership and cooperation agreements
  • approvals of quotes and orders

Signer works with any PDF document (up to 10 MB and 10 signers).
